Make a greater impact on your students’ musical journey
Introducing The Big Leap™
The Big Leap is a 12-month piano pedagogy training and mentorship program created by award-winning pianist and master teacher Ory Shihor. It is based on the teaching philosophy and method behind Ory’s success as a performing artist and educator.
The program is for piano teachers interested in upleveling their teaching skills and repertoire knowledge with a focus on intermediate and advanced repertoire.
It is designed to help piano teachers produce better student results so that they can command higher rates in 12 months.
The program is created with busy piano teachers in mind, so no matter where you are in your pedagogical journey, you will receive expert guidance and support that meet your unique teaching needs and schedule.
In addition, this program includes one-on-one entrepreneurship and mindset coaching with Maria Liu, LCSW, a licensed psychotherapist and mindset coach, specifically designed for classical piano teachers who are interested in building and growing their independent studios that align with their temperament and core values.
Our hope is that, by the end of the 12-month program, teachers will have made a ‘big leap’ forward in their teaching as well as in their life.
Testimonials
“The big leap course is one of my best investments as a professional piano instructor. I always find Ory's detailed analysis to be extremely helpful pedagogically, and I learned so much from Maria on the business side of things. The course is a must-have for any aspiring teachers.”
— Dr. Benjamine Wong, DMA, Piano Teacher, Texas, US
“With the Big Leap program, I feel more confident teaching my advanced students and making interpretive decisions within different pieces.
I can go to Ory and Maria to ask them any questions relating to issues with students or parents, making repertoire decisions, asking about competitions, or anything that comes to mind. It is invaluable! I highly recommend the Big Leap program!”

You’ll have unlimited lifetime access to course materials and recordings.
What is your teacher training philosophy and approach?
Our mission at the OSI School of Piano Pedagogy is to empower teachers to reach their highest pedagogical potential so that they can make a greater impact on future generations of piano students and the classical music education community at large.
With that said, there are three main areas that we emphasize in our teacher training approach:
We embrace and celebrate your unique teaching style
We value your experience
We focus on progress over perfection
Is there homework we need to turn in for this course?
We believe adult learners are self-driven and result-oriented. Hence, there is no ‘homework’ per se, however, there is a suggested action plan for each module.
What are the requirements to receive the OSI Pedagogy Certificate of Completion?
To receive the certificate of completion or be eligible for other higher level pedagogy credentials, such as the certificate of advanced study or the professional diploma in piano pedagogy, please see Certificate Requirements.
What if I have questions for Ory between monthly group sessions?
