Ory Shihor is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning pianist and master teacher with expertise in developing musical talent to its fullest potential.

He has helped countless students ace their college auditions and get accepted into the world’s top music conservatories and universities, such as The Juilliard School and Yale University. 

To date, his students have received over $3 million in scholarship offers, performing on the world’s premiere stages and winning top prizes in prestigious piano competitions. 

Mr. Shihor’s 25 years of experience in working with gifted young musicians includes serving as a piano professor for over a decade at the Colburn Conservatory and as founding dean of its pre-college Academy for highly gifted musicians.

Noted as ‘boldly individualistic’ (New York Times) and ‘not afraid to take risks’ (Washington Post), Mr. Shihor is a frequent speaker and master class teacher at major conservatories, universities and professional conferences around the globe and has served as a judge in prestigious international competitions.

As the co-founder of the Ory Shihor Institute, he continues to cultivate young gifted pianists and mentor a new generation of piano teachers using his proven teaching approach.

A graduate of Juilliard and Curtis, Ory Shihor lives in Los Angeles with his wife Maria Liu, LCSW, a practicing licensed psychotherapist.
